Training and Development
It is recommended that a minimum of 2 years be spent in an apprenticeship studying the art of body modification from a professional and reputable artist. It is also important that anyone interested in becoming a body modification artist should:
- Be trained in first-aid and infection control
- Receive proper training in blood borne pathogens.
- Be vaccinated against Hepititis B
An employer is therefore required to provide adequate training to ensure that apprentices can carry out their work safely.
At this time there are no nationally approved training courses available for body modification artists. ABMAI aims to rectify this situation and is preparing a document for submission to FETEC for approval and inclusion in their training programme.
